Boarders are encouraged to take full advantage of the large variety of activities available to them. With access to the Sports Centre, Fitness Suite and Music School throughout the week and weekends, boarders have plenty of activities to keep them busy. The following information refers to boarding activities during a typical year.
Weekend trips, socials and activities vary throughout the year. A typical weekend usually includes a Saturday Morning Programme, as well as Sunday Activities. There are also frequent trips, socials and other events that take place, with boarding staff using their experience and expertise to organise a range of interesting activities.
Saturday Morning Programme
10.00am – 11.30am
All boarders either sign up to one of the staff-led activities for the course of a term, or take part in one of the other activities available. Staff-led activities can include:
- Computing
- Cooking
- Card Games
- Bridge Club
- Robotics
- Croquet
- Community Service
Other activities can include:
- 5-a-side football
- Basketball
- Fitness Suite
- Music practice
- Library study
Sunday Activities
1.30pm – 3.00pm
These are less formal than the Saturday Morning Programme, and offer a range of activities organised by boarding staff, with usually three or four available on a Sunday afternoon. Activities can include:
- Yoga
- Circuits
- Squash
- Tie-dying
- Lego Saturn V building
- Zorbing
- Board Games
- Escape Room puzzles
- Mahjong
- Volleyball
- Barbecuing smores
- … and many more!
Socials and Trips
Socials
We have frequent socials with girls’ schools such as Headington, Downe House, Godolphin, St Mary’s Calne and Westonbirt. Depending on the year group, boarders usually have one or two socials a term.
Trips
There are many opportunities for boarders to go on trips over the course of the year, with some involving a minibus full of students and others involving almost all the boarding community. Trips have included:

- SS Great Britain and Bristol Docks
- Paintballing
- High Ropes
- London walking tour
- Chinese New Year dinners
- Thorpe Park
- Clay-pigeon shooting
