5th year GCSE revision leave
Revision leave began at 5.20pm on Friday 4 May. As promised, the programme for supervised study and subject clinics has been published to the boys and parents can find it here. Inevitably the programme will change a little but this link accesses the 'live' version of the programme so it is worth checking regularly to get the most up to date version – the version number and date in the top left corner will change if we need to update it. Boys have been told that the programme is entirely voluntary but if they do want to partake of it, they must attend school in uniform and make sure they are either in a clinic or in one of the supervised study rooms for each teaching period of the day – we do not want them coming in and out of the site except at the usual break times (morning and lunchtime). They are welcome to have lunch in school and can take lunch from period 4 onwards (12.10pm) and are not bound by the lunch timings that have existed for 5th year up until now.
Career Myth Busters Needed!
Abingdon's Career Guidance Office is hosting a 'Career Truths and Myths' event 6 -7.30pm on Wednesday 20 June at Abingdon. Parent volunteers are needed to affirm some truths and bust some myths for 4th Year students before they choose A Levels next year. If you work in Engineering, Financial Services, Government, Healthcare, IT, Law, Marketing, Media & Entertainment, Property, or Scientific Research, and would like to volunteer, email Michael Triff, Head of Career Guidance, at [email protected].
School Policies
Parents are reminded that School Policies are available under the “About” & then “Governance” menu of the website. They are reviewed and updated from time to time.
Parent Contract (Terms and Conditions)
The Parent Contract Terms and Conditions are also available via this link. Your attention is drawn to recent changes to this document:
- An update the data protection clauses in light of the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation in May 2018 (Clause 10).
- The addition of a requirement that children holding Tier 4 visas are required to remain full boarders for the duration of their course (Clause 8(h)).
Data Protection
The School has also recently revised the data protection section of the website. This includes links to the School's data protection policy and privacy notices for parents and pupils.
NT Live: Macbeth – 7pm, Thursday 10 May, Amey Theatre
The ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war. Ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled towards the crown by forces of elemental darkness. Shakespeare’s most intense and terrifying tragedy, directed by Rufus Norris (The Threepenny Opera, London Road), will see Rory Kinnear (Young Marx, Othello) and Anne-Marie Duff (Oil, Suffragette) return to the National Theatre to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. For more information about the performance, please go to the National Theatre Live website.
