Today 17 boys came for Headmaster’s praise:
- Torsten Ayerst for achieving a bronze award in the UK Advanced Linguistics Olympiad. This is an outstanding achievement for any boy, but extremely impressive for a boy in the Third Year.
- David Bicarregui for planning and running a Literary Society session on Federico Garcia Lorca.
- Roman Buckland for his considerable support of his Young Enterprise team, in particular taking a lead role in producing and coordinating the writing of the company report.
- Matthew Buhler for his excellent performance in My Fair Lady.
- Freddy Chelsom for creating an outstanding, scientifically accurate, rap summarising the pros and cons of various energy resources.
- Arnav Gupta for his considerable support of his Young Enterprise team, in particular the effective management of the company finance and using the software proved by Young Enterprise.
- David Hrushovski for creating an outstanding, scientifically accurate, rap summarising the pros and cons of various energy resources.
- Kipp Mainstone for his excellent Science Ambassador work showing visitors around and helping out at the IOP Regional Physics CPD Day
- Joe McConnell for his selection recently for the 2nd VIII, and his excellent positive attitude despite only just missing out on 1st VIII.

- Freddie Nicholson for his excellent Science Ambassador work showing visitors around and helping out at the IOP Regional Physics CPD Day.
- Jonathan Ochero for an outstanding write-up on the Third Year Seville Trip.

- Johnny Stavropoulos for scoring the highest mark in the school – for the second year running – in the UK Advanced Linguistics Olympiad, earning a silver medal. It shows outstanding intellectual ability and commitment.
- Edmond Wang for being an exceptional volunteer at the Bridge Club, teaching bridge to the beginners with great patience.
- Tom Whetter for his considerable support of his Young Enterprise team, in particular the production of stock and supporting the trade fairs.
- Sam Wormald for his extensive additional research in History, including his many history trip adviser reviews this half term.

- Toby Baker for his selection to represent Wales A in shooting.
- Robin Collins for his excellent performance in My Fair Lady.
- Alex d’Arcy for his excellent performance in My Fair Lady.
- Kevin Dong for achieving a perfect score in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. He progresses onto the Hamilton Olympiad.
- Sam King for working very hard at his poetry recitation pieces and performing them with such passion.
- Kit Mannix for his excellent performance in My Fair Lady.
- Kit Matthews for working very hard at his poetry recitation pieces and performing them with such passion. Kit’s work was selected for the National Poetry Speaking Competition.
- Johan Nerlov for working very hard at his poetry recitation pieces and performing them with such passion.
- Jason Ng for achieving a merit in the Second Round of the British Mathematical Olympiad, following a Distinction in the First Round. Of all those pupils across the country who sit the Senior Maths Challenge, only around 1000 are invited to sit the BMO1, and of those, only around 100 are invited to sit the BMO2.
- Owen Ravden for his excellent performance in My Fair Lady.
- Ashwin Tennant for achieving a merit in the Second Round of the British Mathematical Olympiad, following a Distinction in the First Round. Of all those pupils across the country who sit the Senior Maths Challenge, only around 1000 are invited to sit the BMO1, and of those, only around 100 are invited to sit the BMO2. Ashwin was just beneath the threshold for automatic qualification, but we were pleased that our gamble to pay for him to enter the second round paid off with this superb result.
- Edmond Wang for achieving a perfect score in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. He progresses onto the Maclaurin Olympiad.
- Sam Wormald for writing six Trip Adviser-style History reports over the half-term break for sites of historical interest that he visited. He is clearly a history enthusiast!

- Thomas Chorley for producing an excellent article for the Middle School, History and Politics Society Magazine.
- James Coode for his excellent recent cross-country results. We won the County Championships, he was selected to run for Oxfordshire and was part of the senior team that won the Wellington Relays.
- Alexander Darbishire for his excellent recent cross-country results. He was selected to run for Oxfordshire at the English Schools National Event in Liverpool.
- Will d’Arcy for his excellent recent cross-country results. We won the County Championships, he was selected to run for Oxfordshire and was part of the Intermediate team that won the Wellington Relays (beating all the seniors teams).
- Alex Davies for his excellent help with the primary school Festival of Languages.
- Cameron Eilbeck for working with our Royal Society research partner to organise and assist with a training workshop for pupils from Fitzharrys School.
- Theo Hinnells as he was the first responder at the scene of a nasty car accident, staying with the patient while the ambulance and police were called and waited until she was safely in the ambulance. Theo stayed calm and showed great maturity in a chaotic and challenging situation.

- Quinn Miell-Ingram for his excellent recent cross-country results. We won the County Championships, he was selected to run for Oxfordshire and was part of the Intermediate team that won the Wellington Relays (beating all the seniors teams).
- Alex Pennington for his excellent recent cross country results. We won the County Championships, he was selected to run for Oxfordshire and was part of the senior team that won the Wellington Relays.
- Nicholas Raptakis for his dedication and enthusiasm for the piano, learning new repertoire almost on a weekly basis and playing it from memory.

- Felix Kind for an exceptional detailed story of the digestion of the hotdog, showing an inspired level of factual detail coupled with brilliant imaginative and descriptive writing.
- Christian Lyons-Appiah for producing an excellent article for the Middle School History and Politics Society Magazine.
- Alfred Morley for his role as goal keeper in the U16 match on Saturday; although we lost 7-1 he produced many excellent saves throughout the game and was a real credit to the school. It would be fair to say that only two of the goals could be counted in any way as a ‘keeper error’; Hampton were excellent and five of the goals were unstoppable.
- Jonathan Ochero for producing an excellent article for the Middle School History and Politics Society Magazine.
- Sam Penrose for making trips to London on two weekends, where he visited museums and took photographs for his A-level art project. He contacted the second museum to ask for permission to take photographs which would not normally be allowed. Sam did all this completely under his own steam. The quality of the photos is outstanding. Sam demonstrates an ideal approach and attitude to A-level studies.
- Luke Ramsden for attending lots of Art OH last term, showing a fantastic, enthusiastic attitude at all times.
- Rory Sheppard for producing an excellent article for the Middle School History and Politics Society Magazine.

- Boco To for his impressive step up to lead 2nd Orchestra this term and, more generally, his commitment to music making, in both piano and violin.
- Archie Wood for working at an excellent standard throughout the second half of the Michaelmas term in GCSE Art. Archie is very ambitious in terms of his standards, doing lots of extra work (voluntarily) over the Christmas break and he has made a flying start to this term.

- Philip Ashton for getting the highest number of commendations (41) in the second year in the Michaelmas Term.
- Charlie Betts for solving all 25 daily puzzles on the Ritangle competition (national MEI run competition for sixth formers) and submitting a correct final answer to the Ritangle competition by 10pm on the day the last set of puzzles were released at 4pm.
- William Bywater for winning a Gold Prize in the Senior Mathematics Competition.
- Ed Gill for demonstrating how to do a Pre-U German oral card to the L6 class and for completing all existing A Level reading/listening and translation papers and giving in-depth feedback to the German department to help with the choice of a replacement for the Pre-U. Ed also won the Sam Hood translation prize (national Classics prize) for an imaginative translation of a chorus of the Agamemnon in a ‘gangster’ style.

- Jakob Hobbs for an outstanding essay on Caesar’s account of the invasions of Britain in the Gallic Wars.

- Tom Phillip for winning second prize for the Gladstone Essay prize (national Classics prize) for an essay on the portrayal of father-son relationships in ancient epic.

- Ben Broadbent for helping build a solar powered water pump, building the electronic circuitry and being very helpful.
- Ben Kiraikou for winning the Cheltenham Debating Competition in German. Final debate topic: Wir können aus der Geschichte lernen.
- Reggie Lambert for giving an outstanding demonstration of the lever harp in a Lower School assembly and being willing to share his enthusiasm for the instrument alongside 2nd Year Alex Woolmer, thereby helping to recruit for this fine instrument.
- Toby Smallcombe for being proactive in assisting Mr Townsend with recruitment for Brass Band, an act that was hugely appreciated by the teacher.
- Boco To for outstanding effort with class work and homework. His work is of the highest quality. He also came to a weekend session and made a fantastic stylised kangaroo.
- William Wakelam for winning the Cheltenham Debating Competition in German. Final debate topic: Wir können aus der Geschichte lernen.
- Ted Wilson for leading the Second XV rugby team for two years in a row, showing outstanding leadership across both years. Sadly his season has come to a premature end due to an ankle injury, but he will continue to act as team manager for the remaining games.
- Alex Woolmer for giving an outstanding demonstration of the lever harp in a Lower School assembly and being willing to share his enthusiasm for the instrument alongside 3rd Year, Reggie Lambert, thereby helping to recruit for this fine instrument.

- Cameron Eilbeck for presenting ASP’s Partnership Grant project at the Royal Society Student Conference.
- Jonathan Lee for being part of the Senior Team Maths Challenge team that came 2nd in the Oxford regional heat.
- Jason Ng for being part of the Senior Team Maths Challenge team that came 2nd in the Oxford regional heat.
- Alvin Tam for exceptional work on “A Guide to Efficient Farming” to cover a combined area of the specification with a more practical, real world application approach.
- Ashwin Tennant for being part of the Senior Team Maths Challenge team that came 2nd in the Oxford regional heat.

- Lancelot Wilson for working very hard to put on a cross school partnership debating competition. He organised a committee and communicated in a very professional way with staff members from 5 different school – hugely impressive for such a young man. It was shame it didn’t come to fruition but he will have learnt a huge amount from this experience.
