End of Term Reports

These will be sent out by email and posted to the parent portal by the end of Thursday. Years 1-5 have short written reports and the Sixth Form have the longer form of reports. Fifth Year reports do not have Housemaster comments this session.

Term Calendar and Key Dates

As you will be aware the School is not printing a hard-copy calendar so parents should refer to the online calendar which is kept regularly up to date. Any amendments to Summer Term 2016 events made after today will be indicated clearly. Parents may wish to consult the online calendar and the term dates page now to remind themselves of the beginnings and ends of each half-term. 

For the attention of parents of students coming on the 3rd Year Battlefields trip 13th-15th April 2016

Please can you note that the departure time is 6am from Faringdon Road coach park. Please also bring wellington boots in a spare plastic bag as they will need them throughout the trip. Packed lunch on day 1 and some money for snacks/souvenirs in Euros is also advised. Most importantly please make sure your son has his passport! Any issues contact [email protected].

Music in the Summer Term

Parents are warmly invited to view the Summer 2016 Music Calendar. The highlights for your diaries include the following events:

  • Wednesday 27 April – TVYO at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, 7.30pm – Some 25 Abingdon boys join other talented musicians for their summer concert including Wagner's Mastersingers Overture and Tchaikovsky's 2nd Symphony.
  • Wednesday 18 May – Junior Scholars' and Soloists' Concert, Amey Theatre, 6pm.
  • Friday 20 May – Six Plus One Jazz Comedy concert with Simon Currie and his jazzer friends, Amey Theatre 6.30pm. A light-hearted evening of jazz and comedy, not to be missed.
  • Thursday 23 June – Lower School Gala Concert, Amey Theatre, 6pm. Involving all the boys in Lower School in solos, ensembles, choirs and much more.
  • Wednesday 29 June – Summer Concert at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, 7pm. Our bands, orchestras and choirs turn out one final time with our talented leavers on display in solo works by Bach and Saint-Saens and Rossini's Thieving Magpie Overture.
Tennis coaching – Summer Term

Martin Butler is available for charged tennis group coaching sessions at the following times during the summer term on the school's hard courts at £7.50 per hour. For further information please contact Master in charge of Tennis, Ben Ponniah.

Saturday Bus Service: Summer Term

Thank you to those parents who have used the Saturday Bus Service this term. We will continue to run the service next term on each of the term time Saturdays, except Saturday 30 April and Saturday 25 June. The pick up points and timings will remain the same as they have been throughout  this academic year. Any comments or queries in this regard can be forwarded to the Director of Sport and PE, Andrew Hall.

Start of Next Term

Boarders return on evening Monday 18  April. Term begins for all Tuesday 19 April, with registration and tutor time at 8:35am, and the normal Tuesday Week B timetable starting period 1. Boys should bring their kit for the sport they expect to do. The next Weekly Mailing will be sent out on Friday 22 April 2016.
