The Headmaster was delighted to accept the report of the Independent Schools inspection team that visited Abingdon between April 25 and 29, 2005. The whole tone of the report is extremely positive and represents a strong reinforcement of everything that the School is trying to achieve. Specifically the Inspectors heaped glowing praise on
- High academic expectations
- The outstanding range and balance of Other Half (extra-curricular) activities
- The dedication and commitment of a highly professional staff.
The School met all its statutory regulatory requirements with no need for any further follow-up action. The two main recommendations of the Inspection were
- That the sports facilities could be improved. The improvement of the sports facilities is already at the heart of the current development plan. The Senior Management Team and Governors are currently working up plans for the submission of a planning application for a new sports centre, swimming pool and Astroturf pitch complex of approximately £7 Million plus.
- The staff appraisal system could be implemented with greater rigour. The Headmaster and Senior Management Team will conduct a review of appraisal policies during the course of this academic year.

Abingdon Preparatory School, then Josca’s, was also inspected at the same time and we are delighted to say that they received a glowing report, a strong endorsement of the outstanding progress that has been made there since they joined the Abingdon foundation in 1998.
