Fines for parking on Park Road and on Park Crescent
Parents are reminded that, to discourage parking on these private roads, a company is employed by Christ's Hospital to fine cars parked there. Visitors should use the School's Lower Field Car Park on Park Road, and then report to Park Lodge Reception, please.
Music
There is a flurry of musical events in the next few weeks at Abingdon School and parents are warmly invited to attend any of them. Please visit the school's website for further details – here is a resumé.
- Thursday 10 November, 6pm, Senior Instrumental Solo Competition – Our senior, post grade 8 solo musicians battle it out for the cup in front of an external adjudicator. Admission is free.
- Thursday 17 November, 5 to 7.30pm, CMR – ASMS Singing Masterclass and Recital with Richard Burkhard – Soloist from the Bolshoi, Richard Burkhard, tutors our senior singers in operatic extracts and sings to us, himself. Admission free, thanks to ASMS.
- Sunday 20 November, 7pm at St Helen's School – Joint Schools' Choral Society – Boys and girls join with parents and staff in performances of Vivaldi's Gloria and Vaughan Williams' 5 Mystical Songs. Tickets required.
- Friday 25 November 7pm, Amey Theatre – Music Maths and Mozart's Jupiter Symphony – A fascinating event with visiting lecturer and First Orchestra, followed by a curry social event in the CMR. Please apply for tickets.
- Wednesday 30 November, 6pm, CMR – ASMS Strings Masterclass with Levon Chilingirian – Now a regular and a friend of the school, international violinist, Levon Chilingirian, joins us to put our senior string players through their paces. A must for all our string players and their parents. Admission free, thanks to ASMS.
- Wednesday/Friday 7/9 December, 7pm, Amey Theatre – Christmas Concerts – Our grand finale to the term. First, Second, Chamber Orchestras, Brass, Big and Wind Bands, First Year and Gospel Choirs. Don't miss this one! Tickets required.
