Message from the Head
Dear Parents
We heard yesterday of course that a general election has been called. I’m sure we will all be monitoring the campaign carefully to see what it might bring. In school, we plan to use the election to develop students’ understanding of the democratic process and to give them an opportunity to state their views.
On a different note, I’d like to congratulate the cast and crew of our Lower School production, James and the Giant Peach, which I very much enjoyed last night; tonight’s audience are in for a treat. It’s a production of flair, comedy and imagination and the cast threw themselves into their roles with real style. I’m grateful to Mrs Badger for her dynamic and resourceful direction which certainly brought the best out of all the pupils and also to the Amey Theatre technical team who sprinkled their magic on the production.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the very best to our oarsmen who are competing in the National Schools Regatta at Eton Dorney this weekend. This is always a fantastic event and my thanks go to all our coaches, as well as to Friends of Abingdon School Boat Club for their superb support.
Richard Stone, Chair of ASPA, has chosen to step down from this role. I am grateful for all he has done in this position and for his commitment to the School. There is an announcement about the next AGM for ASPA in the message below, which refers to the opportunity to stand for leadership positions.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who submitted questions and who attended our recent webinars relating to coeducation. We’ll be following up with further communications on this topic in the second half of term.
With best wishes for the half term break,
Best wishes, Mike Windsor

- From the Chair of ASPA:
- Dear Fellow Parents, I have decided to step down as Chair of ASPA at our forthcoming AGM. Kathy Howat and Christina Williamson will also be stepping down from their roles as Secretary and Treasurer respectively as their sons depart the school this summer. We are therefore looking for new officers for the roles of Chair and Treasurer only, as the Secretary has been recruited. These roles must be filled at the AGM to ensure ASPA successfully moves forward. The AGM is being held on Monday 24 June at 7.30pm in the café area of the Pavilion, all parents are welcome to attend. If you wish to come and/ or are interested in either role please email [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there. Best wishes, Richard Stone, ASPA Chair
