Our U13s' rugby season started on Wednesday with the early season Dragon School Festival. The theme of the day was the first principle of rugby 'go forward' and our team pressed really hard both with and without the ball and played really well.

This quality and pressure in all matches led to a 20-0 win against St. John’s School, Northwood. Match two was a last minute score to beat the Dragon 5-0. Match 3 was against the top of the group against Wellingborough losing only by two quick tries. The team went through to the semis to play Caldicott Prep who were undefeated on the day not conceding a try. Abingdon lost 15-0 in an excellent match.

The final match was against the Dragon again where we won 10-5. Of our eight scores there were seven different try scorers showing what a team effort the day was as well as how much the squad has improved.

Mr Broadbent and Mr Bates were very impressed with the approach and improvement throughout the festival. A great day and a big platform to build on as the season continues.
