French is the primary modern foreign language offered at Abingdon Prep School. It is taught, by subject specialists from Year 1 onwards, capitalising on the natural linguistic curiosity of our younger learners. We follow the guidance given in the National Curriculum as well as our bespoke Abingdon Prep + syllabus to build a robust foundation in grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. We create a high-energy, immersive environment where pupils confidently move from joyful speaking and listening to sophisticated reading and writing. By exploring Francophone culture alongside the mechanics of the language, our pupils develop a global perspective and the essential skills for future multilingual success.
