Situated in 50 acres of grounds in the Oxfordshire village of Frilford, Abingdon Prep offers a comprehensive range of facilities spanning the arts, music and sport, as well as plenty of space for our children to explore and enjoy.

In addition, as part of the Abingdon Foundation, Abingdon Prep pupils also have access to the extensive facilities of Abingdon Senior School and Tilsley Park.

Art studio

Our art studio provides a bright area dedicated to various forms of art creation including painting, drawing, ceramics and printmaking.

DT workshop

Our hugely creative DT department operates from a purpose-built workshop, where there is ample space (and equipment) for our pupils to plan and create a fantastic array of projects.

Drama studio

This dedicated space, situated behind the stage of our main school hall, provides the perfect platform for our pupils to learn key skills including role-play, mime, improvisation, comedy and performances.

In addition, Abingdon Prep pupils also have the use of the Amey Theatre at Abingdon Senior School for senior school productions.

Computing suite

We want our pupils to have access to the most up to date resources and technology so they can benefit from an optimum educational experience and the challenges of an ever evolving world. APS pupils benefit greatly from our refurbished computing suite with updated equipment.

Library

Reading remains at the forefront of primary education and our double height library which sits in the very heart of our school provides the perfect environment to encourage and learn. Bright and contemporary, it has dedicated spaces for teaching; for break out sessions; and for quiet reading and reflection.

The Music School

Providing inspirational, specialist facilities with acoustically designed practice and teaching rooms, the new music school will help to broaden the appeal of music at Abingdon Prep, providing dynamic surroundings for lessons. Currently, around 70% of our pupils learn musical instruments with peripatetic staff; and these new facilities will also be able to be utilised by the 15 music clubs available through our impressive Other Half extra-curricular programme.

Open air atrium

In a twist on the traditional, our open air atrium provides an alternative platform for plays, concerts and assemblies – especially in warmer weather.

Science laboratory and STEM room

Our Science department values the practical side of science teaching and the benefits of kinaesthetic learning. Both our Science laboratory and dedicated STEM room are an important part of our ongoing development of STEM teaching, providing all pupils with two dedicated spaces where they can investigate and explore the wonders of science, both as part of our curriculum and as part of our Other Half extra-curricular programme.

Sports facilities

Our extensive grounds include 30 acres of sports pitches, known as Cox’s Fields. These are used for cricket, cross country, football and rugby.

In addition, there is a multi-activity sports hall, multi-use Astroturf, cricket nets and an indoor heated swimming pool.

Further sports facilities are also on offer at Tilsley Park and Abingdon Senior School.
