Abingdon Prep announces its move to co-education
Set in 50 acres of beautiful countryside, Abingdon Prep School is situated in Frilford, a village just outside Abingdon. Fresh air and space abound with an impressive number of sports pitches, woods to explore, gardens to cultivate and adventure play areas to enjoy.
We are a very happy and friendly school with no ‘typical’ pupil. Confident or shy, robust or sensitive – and they are usually a mixture of all four – we know what inspires our children. Wherever their interests lie, our extensive extracurricular ‘Other Half’ programme captures their enthusiasm with over 80 clubs and activities to choose from. Whether it’s coding, the creative arts, fencing, folk group or one of the many sports in which our pupils will represent our school – irrespective of whether they are A or D team.

Opportunities are plentiful at Abingdon Prep and our pupils are keen to try everything; they want to sing in the choir, play in the orchestra, join the debating team and they enjoy all that they do. Our small class sizes ensure that pupils are very well cared for and their strengths and weaknesses recognised. With one class throughout Pre-Prep and then two per year from age seven, there is plenty of opportunity for musical ensembles, art and science clubs and when it comes to team sport, we have full fixture cards for every term.
Our phonics programme is tailored to suit our young pupils – we know the books they enjoy, the trips that will inspire and we appreciate that every child is different and that confidence is key.
Children flourish here, and happy children make very good learners.
