We are delighted to be able to congratulate five Abingdon chamber ensembles that have won places at the semifinal round of the Pro Corda National Chamber Music Festival.

Abingdon entered eight ensembles for the competition and were competing against schools from Reading, Warwick and Coventry in the regional qualifiers on Wednesday. The adjudicator commented on the fine standard of the playing.

The groups that go through include the following:

Under 14 Cello Ensemble (Kayden Wong, Angus Kwok, Harrison Wong)
Under 15 String Quartet (Ryan Ng, Nicholas Lau, Isaac Conway, Adrian Chiu)
Under 16 String Quartet (Liam Engall, Nikhil Tennant, Ryan Ng, Yubo Gao)
Under 18 (Ryan Ng, Walter Liu, Yubo Gao, Thomas Zhang)
Under 16 Brass Quartet (Lachlan Keene, Rudolph Flossmann, Winston Wong, Arthur Robertson).

These ensembles now progress to the semifinals which will be held at Abingdon School on Monday 27 February. There will be an opportunity for parents and friends to hear this work at our Annual Chamber Music Evening on Tuesday 28 February in the Amey Theatre at 6pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
