The grand final of the annual Lower School Public Speaking Competition took place on the last day of term with first year champions 1M (Peter Harris – chairman, Oliver Smith – main speaker, Samuel Turner – vote of thanks) taking on second year winner 2W (Joshua Massey-Thompson – chairman, Johnnie Willis-Bund – main speaker, Owen Henney – vote of thanks). 1M's topic was the merits of homework, while 2W discussed feminism. A very high standard of argument was forthcoming on both sides giving the judge, Mr Triff, a very difficult job. Victory went to 1M with a single point separating the teams.
