Saturday saw the Headmaster abseil 100ft down the tower of Dorchester Abbey, overcoming his fear of heights to raise money for the Abbey and the Sue Ryder Charity. Speaking about the descent, Mike Windsor said, “Stepping out over the parapet at the top of the tower was pretty nerve-wracking; it looked higher than I thought it would! Once I got going, though, I really enjoyed it and I certainly appreciated the noisy support on the ground. All in all, it was a great experience and I was delighted to be able to raise money for Sue Ryder and the Dorchester Festival.”
Pupils and staff were amongst spectators who watched as the Headmaster was the first to take up the challenge which was organised as part of the Dorchester Music Festival, which runs from April 28 to May 7 and each year attracts about 3,000 people. Persuaded by pupils to wear a GoPro – the video shows Mr Windsor's descent, and pictured also with Liz Bedford from neighbouring St Helen and St Katharine School who also completed the challenge.
