This is an opportunity to learn how to cater for yourself, your friends and your family now and later in life. We cook savoury food one week and sweet the next. The activity includes:

  • Deciding on recipes for the following week
  • Shopping for the ingredients
  • Learning about different foods and how to handle and cook them
  • Basic food hygiene and safety in the kitchen
  • Hands on cooking experience
  • Eating everything at the end of the afternoon!

This year, for example, we have cooked: full English breakfast, chicken fahitas, spaghetti bolognese, Cornish pasties, pork stir fry, tartiflette, French style crêpes, lemon cake, chocolate cake, white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, chocolate brownies, cookies and banoffee pie.
