Last Thursday Abingdon Swimming Club hosted their annual Abingdon Sprints Swimming Gala, welcoming nine independent schools from across the local area including Harrow, Bromsgrove, Cheltenham, Marlborough and Oratory. On what was a highly competitive and fast paced afternoon the U18 squad finished a credible third, whilst the U16 team did themselves a great deal of credit to finish second behind a strong Harrow squad. Looking to build on their performance the week before at the Warwick 100s the U14s again led the field from start to finish on a number of occasions finishing convincing winners in their age group. Special mention must go to Scott Yap on setting yet another school record, this time the U14 50m breaststroke in a time of 33.61 seconds. Huge congratulations must go to all of the Abingdon boys involved.
