For the attention of 3rd and 4th year parents: hosting exchange students

We are looking for 2 families who could host a German exchange student (14-15 years-old) in the time from 28/09 – 08/10/2014. These will be the partners of boarding students who are not able to host their partners.

The students will be in school or on excursions during the day and in families in the evening and on the weekend but could reasonably be expected to spend one of the weekend days with their boarding partners.

If you feel able to host, please contact Miss Widdern on [email protected] by Monday 9 June.

For the attention of Lower Sixth parents: A level predicted grades

During these final weeks of term, lower sixth boys will be strongly encouraged to prepare various aspects of their university applications. One element of the application is the School's prediction of A level grades: the procedures by which these predicted grades are formulated are described in the Predicted Grades document available in the School Policies section of the school website.

Lower Sixth boys should be making arrangements for appointments on the UCAS2 evening due to take place on Friday 13 June. Details were sent in a previous mailing of 25 April 2014 titled UCAS 2 Arrangements.

Henley Royal Regatta – Friday 4 July 2014

Music notices

There are a number of forthcoming music events of which we would like to remind you.

Wednesday 25 June, 7pm – The Lower School Gala Concert – This is the annual occasion when we celebrate the musical talent of our Lower School boys in solo, chamber band and orchestral items. The event includes the First Year Choir, Junior Strings, The Lower School Band and Second Orchestra (with a sprinkling of Middle School boys). Please join us!

Friday 27 June, 7pm – Jazz on a Summer Evening – This is one of our most popular events. Let's hope for fine weather to accompany the wonderful Abingdon Jazzers, in Big Band and senior jazz ensembles – with some help from our friends at SHSK. Tickets from [email protected]k

For the Chapel Choir and First Orchestra families, particularly…..

Sunday 29 June 10am to 4pm – Choral and Orchestral Playing Day – Parents of boys in the Touring Chapel Choir and First Orchestra need to ensure that this is firmly in their diaries, please. This rehearsal day will be crucial in bringing our groups up to performance standard before our summer tour to Barcelona, 5-12 July.

Wednesday 2 July, 7pm – Barcelona Pre-Tour Concert – This is the opportunity to hear the repertoire which we are taking on tour and should be a most enjoyable concert. Admission is free, so do please join us for a last chance to see and hear our Leavers in Choir and Orchestra for their last concert together on English soil.
