Message from the Headmaster
Dear Parents
This week we’ve been preparing to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles.
Lower School pupils made a sumptuous selection of crowns to mark the occasion which were all put on display for everyone to enjoy. Many of the crowns had been inspired by King Charles’ well-known passion for the environment but others reflected the British way of life more broadly. A favourite was a crown representing the Full English breakfast which would represent an interesting addition to the Crown Jewels.
Tomorrow we’ll be celebrating with a barbecue for students and staff on Upper Field. The Combined Cadet Force will be on parade, in a foretaste of the pomp and ceremony we will see in London on Saturday, and the choir will be performing suitably regal music, including Handel’s Zadok the Priest. It will be a great opportunity for the whole school to come together – let’s hope it stays dry.
We then move into the second Bank Holiday weekend in a row. Tuesday 9 May will therefore be run as a Monday timetable so students need to bring in the books and equipment they would usually use on a week A Monday.
Best wishes, Mike Windsor
