Griffen Ball tickets – Saturday 25 June 2016

A limited number of tickets are still available for the 2016 Griffen Ball. All parents from all year groups are warmly invited. Tickets can be booked via the school website. The Ball will be held on Saturday 25 June and as is tradition, it's held in the Ball Marquee on Upper Field, a fabulous setting. This very special occasion is first and foremost a celebration for all U6 leavers, their parents, family and friends but parents from other year groups are also encouraged to join in the fun. The evening starts with a glass of bubbly on the lawns in the evening sunshine. After a delicious four course meal during which guests are entertained by roving magicians, you can dance the night away to some great music, intermingled with fun at the casino and of course the famous dodgems, plus more entertainments yet to be finalised.

Music Technology Lessons at Abingdon School

There are a few spaces still left for an exciting opportunity to a limited number of Lower School pupils to use the latest state-of-the-art music technology equipment. A short nine week course in the summer term will be an introduction to how music/sound is composed, recorded and produced within the digital studio environment. This will involve the use of a variety of software packages and hardware equipment to unlock the vast potential of recording musical ideas and sound.
There will be a limited amount of places with a view to longer term study in the Autumn 2016. Recent pupils have gone onto courses and careers in commercial music and sound recording and an understanding of the use of this essential technology will certainly give future candidates an important edge. The lessons are offered on the same basis as individual music lessons, which currently cost £18.50 for a 30 minute lesson. Places are limited so are offered on a first come first served basis. If you are interested, please contact the Director of Music by email at [email protected].
