Last week, six of our older singers were fortunate enough to work with Guy Cutting OA in a vocal masterclass. Guy was a chorister at New College, Oxford, before returning there as a choral scholar after completing his studies at Abingdon. Each student worked on their piece for twenty minutes with Guy, who explored in particular notions of text, vowel shape and vocal production with them. Later in the evening, alongside pianist George Ireland, Guy presented a recital of English song, with Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ Songs of Travel as the centrepiece. All in attendance would agree that it was a truly special performance.
