On Monday, it was the turn of the 1st Years to visit the remains of the Roman Baths at Bath. With the move to the new Latin course de Romanis it was not the usual connection between the textbook at the Baths (the previous textbook had been partially set in the Baths); instead, the focus of the trip was Roman religion, the topic that the 1st years have been covering in their textbook recently. Pupils were therefore encouraged to study the features of temples, like the pediment of the temple of Sulis Minerva, altars and tombstones, to understand how the Romans engaged with their gods. The Roman god of ice-cream and fudge (whoever they might be) was well-worshipped following our visit to the Baths.
