The First Year visited the remains of the Roman temple and bath-complex under the modern city of Bath. They appreciated the insight into the way the Romans combined religion and leisure, as well as the way the Romans used syncretism to persuade the indigenous Celts that life under the Romans wasn’t so bad. The day finished up with sampling the spring water and the local ice-cream and fudge.
