This year’s Lower School Production, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, was performed for two nights in the Amey theatre by First and Second Year pupils. The audience joined siblings Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter on their extraordinary journey through the magical land of Narnia – a kingdom locked in an eternal winter by the malevolent White Witch.
A note from the Director:
‘I have just come from a meeting with the Drama and Theatre team where we reflected on the recent production, and the one word that resonated with all of us was ‘ambitious’. Although there were moments during rehearsals when I questioned our choice of using large swathes of fabric to depict locations or opting for a very large, moveable wardrobe, I am thrilled and super proud that we dared to push boundaries. This was made possible by our dedicated technical team, our extremely talented students, and the amazing facilities available to us, allowing us to explore a range of creative and ambitious ideas.
The cast and technical crew put in an extraordinary amount of effort to bring the production together. The countless hours of rehearsal, their dedication to honing their craft, and their remarkable ability to juggle everything else was truly impressive. Each rehearsal was a mix of laughter and challenges, and I am incredibly proud of every one of them.
I would like to express my thanks to all the students, parents, and staff members who played a role in the success of this production. Your hard work, support, and enthusiasm were crucial to the show’s development.
To everyone who attended the performance, I hope you enjoyed experiencing the magical journey and took delight in the remarkable achievements of our young performers.
