On Saturday a quartet of Abingdon runners travelled to Sevenoaks to compete in the prestigious Knole Run. At 9.4km in length and set within the hilly national trust park it is one of the toughest and most eagerly anticipated races of the season, attracting many of the top cross country schools from around the country.

W.d’Arcy and R.Miell-Ingram set a fast pace which strung the race out, making it hard for others to race tactically. After roughly 4km and the pace still high, gaps began to appear with d’Arcy and Miell-Ingram working well together. The duo never looked back and opened a commanding lead. Fresh off the back of a winter training block in Norway, as part of the winter biathlon talent pathway, W.d’Arcy managed to pull away and take the individual victory, something that is extremely difficult to do, especially as a lower sixth pupil. Club captain R.Miell-Ingram backed up his 2nd place finish at the National Final with another consistently high performance (2nd) and special mention must go to Q.Miell-Ingram, competing at his first Knole Run as a fifth year for finishing in 10th place. L.Trotter ran superbly well to finish in 69th, rounding out a successful race for the Abingdon squad.
