Recently, Thomas, Walter, Laurence, Daniel and Josef took part in Stonevale’s ongoing series of musical house-concerts, which have been running since 2006. The varied programme of solo and combined works was expertly performed by all the musicians, who seemed to relish the opportunity to be part of a relaxed Sunday afternoon concert. The programme opened with a two piano work by Gurlitt, followed by some Debussy, Sibelius, Dragonetti, Chopin and Pierné; as well as a jazz sonata by Woods; and an impromptu rendition of Mike Cornick’s Jamaica Farewell for six hands at the piano as an encore. Each performance was greatly appreciated both by parents and members of the local community who were impressed both by the professionalism of the students and the high standard of music they were delivering.
