Last Thursday over 1000 students and staff took part in the schools Biennial Sponsored Walk. The 10 mile route took in sections of the Oxford Green Belt Way and the Thames Path. Boys were encouraged to make the challenge their own with some choosing to run, canoe or row the route. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and a leisurely picnic break in Clifton Hampden was certainly enjoyed by a number of the students.

The sponsored walk has been running at Abingdon since 1986 and the boys in the charities committee were impressed to see that the very first walk raised over £7000. The walk in 2016 raised just over £28,000 and we are hoping to beat that impressive sum this year.

The causes chosen by students to be supported by the walk this year are Mary’s Meals, which aims to ensure that every child in the world is able to get a school lunch and Crisis which is a national charity that works to end homelessness within the UK.

Each boy was challenged to raise £40 and we are very grateful for the many pledges of sponsorship made so far. If you would like to add your sponsorship for this event please do so via our donations site.
