Abingdon Science Partnership played host to a variety of visiting groups last week, starting with the 11th Abingdon Cubs for their Science Investigator badge evening and ending with two sessions of Saturday Science Club entitled Crafty Rafts. In between, there was a visit to St Edmund's RC Primary for their regular CREST Award session and workshops on Photosynthesis for St Nicolas CofE Primary Y4 and The Science of the Iron Man for Buckland CofE Primary Y1 and Y2. Every part of the Science Department was involved including Biology, Chemistry and Physics teachers as well as technicians and our excellent sixth form Science Ambassadors. Buckland Headteacher, Louise Warren, commented 'Our mission in coming to you was to raise the level of awe and wonder in science – certainly worked yesterday!'. The Crafty Rafts workshop, run on behalf of Science Oxford, was rated as one of the most fun yet by many of the children who attended. Adult feedback was also very positive, summed up by one parent who wrote 'This was a very interactive, practical and informative session which the children could all relate to – excellent!'.
