Over the past three weeks in Lower School Science Club, the students have been working in groups to research and present a science demonstration of their choosing. After planning their method and apparatus, and deciding what equipment they would need to perform their demonstration, they rehearsed their presentation and made posters to explain the scientific concepts behind it. In the final week, they presented their science demonstrations to their peers, and a panel of judges – teachers and sixth form students. We were impressed by the imagination and creativity on show, not to mention the fantastic scientific explanations. The demonstrations included flying teabags, density columns, self-inflating balloons, rockets, and even a human Newton’s cradle!
