A science club for local primary school children, run by Abingdon School Science Ambassadors, got under way today with an exciting session on flame tests. The Science Ambassadors planned and ran the entire session, following comprehensive training in planning, risk assessment and evaluation methods last term. The opportunity to take part was so popular that 28 children attended from six local schools, some being brought by their parents from as far away as Harwell. Some of the Science Ambassadors will be using this as a Duke of Edinburgh volunteering activity, but others are doing it to develop leadership and team building skills or simply for fun! There will be five more sessions during this term, with the topic for the next one being fish dissection.
