The Boat Club ventured into London for the Schools Head, the main national winter race of the season for clubs and schools. It was the first time in four years that the pupils have been able to race. All the crews performed very well with all the top crews in the country present and racing and Abingdon crews racing in the top Championship category. The J15 Bs were 3rd, J15 As 4th, J15 Cs 13th in the B event but 3rd ranked C crew. J16 A and Bs were both 6th and the 1st VIII were 8th and 2nd VIII 11th.
The 3rd Years have made excellent progress since first picking up their oars in January. They had a similarly successful day at their first big race attending the National Junior Sculling Head at the Olympic Course at Dorney Lake on Wednesday. The A crew placed 5th, B crew 6th, C crew 2nd and the D crew 1st in their respective events.
