10 September 2019

Last Saturday saw the 2019 rugby season kick off for our 1st XV away versus St Edward’s School, Oxford.

After a summer tour of South America our 1st XV were excited and prepared for the big local derby match.

The team showed incredible defence underpinned by passion, physicality and belief. Attack improved throughout the afternoon with a penalty kick and conversion by Charlie Atkinson and two tries scored in the second half by Ethan McLellan and Liam O'Hickey after tremendous attacking phase play and team organisation.

Final score 15-0 to our 1st XV. A wonderful start to the season. Thank you for all our pupils, parents and staff who came to support ensuring a terrific atmosphere and start to the season.

The morning was a great success with a mass training session for U14s developing their contact skills followed by a senior rugby trial match between our 2s, 3s and 4s on Waste Court showing there is a lot of depth in the senior squad this season.

We go into this week with our U13 As taking part in the Dragon School Festival on Wednesday and full block against St Paul’s, Hammersmith this Saturday.
