Last week saw the final Peer Support Lead twilight meeting, with all mentors coming together from John Mason, Fitzharrys, St Helen’s and Abingdon. The aim of the session was to bring everyone’s experience together so that next year’s Peer Support Leads can learn from the experience of this pilot group. Conversation ranged from exam stress to family/pet illness as well as balancing commitments and friendship issues. There was then a period of reflection on what has gone well and what the challenges have been, before a couple of personal accounts from Abingdon, John Mason and St Helen’s pupils on their own experiences. Students spoke with real emotion and empathy about their own experiences of supporting younger members of their school communities and their maturity and leadership was evident.
