To cap off a wonderful first week of the school term for the Music Department which also saw the Chapel choir sing Parry’s rousing anthem ‘I was Glad’ in the opening church service of the year, our eight new Music Award Holders gave an evening recital full of variety, energy and wonderful musicianship. There were performances on Marimba, Drums, Trombone, Clarinet, Voice, Piano and Cello whilst the eclectic range of music included Chick Corea on the Flute to a movement of Elgar Cello Concerto to piano sonatas by Mozart and Scarlatti. It was fantastic to see these young musicians play for the first time at Abingdon and hopefully this is the first of many performances on their musical journeys at the school.
