The 1st XV rugby team played their first match of the 2024 season yesterday on Waste Court against Dauntsey’s School in the first round of the Continental Tyres U18 Cup competition. Despite challenging weather conditions, both teams showed unwavering passion, commitment and an impressive level of skill. The match saw fluctuations in momentum and scoreline, ending in a decisive victory for Abingdon. In the final moments, Abingdon secured the ball from a restart and worked their way towards Dauntsey’s line, subsequently scoring under the posts and converting the try to win the match. Looking ahead, the next round should be in two weeks time and will be an away game against the winners of the match between Marlborough College and Bishops Wordsworth School.
