Third year students have been learning about the structure and importance of biological molecules in our body. Here are some photos of the models the boys made to show the large complex molecule made from smaller subunits.
This model of DNA double helix shows the different monomers of nucleic acid as different coloured pom poms – Michael Bell
This is a model of a molecule of fat made from 2 different monomers, glycerol and fatty acids – Thomas Zhang
This is an example of how multiple sugar molecules (glucose) link together to create the large complex polymer of starch – Lucas Mueller Quintino
This is an example of how different amino acids link together to make a polypeptide chain which folds to make a protein – Connor Lamsdale
This model of a lipid molecule was made by Leo Shipley.
