On Saturday, we travelled to MCS marking the first MCS MUN conference since early 2022. The morning started with a brief opening ceremony before committees started to flow fully. We engaged in fruitful debate covering a plethora of topics including The Sudanese Civil War, The Israel Palestine conflict and Lithium and Cobalt mining.
Over the course of the day, we managed to collectively pass the majority of resolutions discussed, highlighting the fine diplomacy and co-operation between not only nations but Schools. The closing ceremony saw great success for Abingdon with the Chinese and Cuban delegations winning a total of 5 individual awards (Freddie – China, Political; Philip – Cuba, DISEC; Felix – China, Human Rights; Isa – Cuba, Human Rights; Ed – China, Environment). To top it all off, the Chinese delegation consisting of Will, Nathan, Freddie, Felix and Ed, won overall best delegation, further emphasising the exceptional efforts of all in attendance.
Overall, a great day of debating filled with cooperation, laughter and unity.
