On Friday, the U16A team travelled to the Shrewsbury Club to compete in the regional finals of the LTA competition. It was an early start, with a 6:00 departure, but the students were in good spirits and clearly eager to play. By getting through to the regional finals the students had got down to the last 16 teams and their sights were set on progressing through to the next round. We drew KES Birmingham in the first round, a tough start, and played some great tennis with some very close matches. Unfortunately KES took the match and this relegated us to the 3rd/4th place playoffs.
KES went on to win against Repton, so the students did well to challenge them so effectively. We played Shrewsbury in the playoffs and won comfortably, securing third place. Everyone was superb and all credit goes to Archie Kind, Monty Bowles, Max Woodthorpe Browne, Hayato Frellesvig and Ben Morgan.
