29 March 2019
The Grand Final of the Lower School Public Speaking Competition took place on the last day of term with first year champions 1P taking on the second year winners 2J.
1P (Max Cranstoun, Jack Kerley and Oliver Veal) gave a passionate speech in favour of eliminating single use plastic, while 2J (Dhruv Hegde, Thomas Chorley and Jack Cabell) spoke about the dangers of smoking.
The standard throughout this year's competition has been very high indeed and the final was no exception with both sides putting on a fine display of rhetoric. Mr Hindley had a difficult job as judge but gave the victory to 2J by the narrowest of margins.
