Lower School pupils from Abingdon and St Helen’s gathered this evening for a Joint Dinner Debate. The motion, proposed by St Helen’s, was “This house believes that only those aged between 16 and 80 should be allowed to vote”. After passionate and well-argued speeches on both sides, the motion was passed. Following a pizza supper, the evening concluded with a scratch balloon debate in which it was decided that the Bible is the must-have item following a nuclear apocalypse, beating a pen, the complete works of Shakespeare, a piano, fire and cooking equipment.
