Last week, it was a delight for our musicians to return to the Holywell Music Room to give an evening concert of solo and chamber music. This iconic venue, thought to be the first custom-built concert hall in Europe, afforded the pupils the opportunity to perform in both a professional music venue but also to enjoy the wonderful setting and acoustic. With performances ranging from Marimba concertos to art song, from unaccompanied Bach to Romantic piano music, there was both a wonderful breadth of musical repertoire and brilliant technical and musical craft on show. Alongside solo items, there was an opportunity for performance of two movements from the Mozart Clarinet Quintet and we will look forward to returning to the venue in the years to come.
