The first years spent this afternoon learning more about the history of Abingdon School. Following an illustrated talk by Mrs Wearne, the school archivist, they walked in to town to visit St Helen's Church, where they heard from departing upper sixth former William Sheffield and saw the church bells, St Nicolas' Church, and the Roysse Room, the site of the school set up by John Roysse in 1563. They also had time to visit Abingdon Museum to hear about the curious Abingdon tradition of bun throwing and enjoy the superb views from the roof.
