The first years spent Friday afternoon learning more about the history of Abingdon School. Following an excellent introductory talk by Mrs Wearne, the school archivist, they walked into town and visited St Helen’s Church to see the tomb of John Roysse, who reendowed the school in 1563, and St Nicolas’ Church where they found out more about some other key figures in the school’s history. They also looked at the outside of the old school buildings and enjoyed the spectacular views from the roof of Abingdon Museum.
