The Lower School History club had a productive time digging at two sites within the Senior School – the first by Austin House; and the second by the Amey Theatre. The archaeologists start by removing the top layer of soil until they get to a lighter layer called the horizon layer. If they believe that something may be in a certain spot, they will put a flag there. They found animal bones and earthenware on both sites. Whilst not the Roman coins they had hoped for, it was a fantastic practical experience and the pupils had great fun.
