The Abingdon golf team of Harry Gale, Nick Owen and Finn Leigh took on Radley in the ISGA scratch match play competition on Tuesday at Frilford Heath Golf Course. The weather threatened to cut the game short but it was great to see all three matches completed.
Harry Gale was always in control of his match and eventually won 5&3 whilst Finn Leigh battled hard from 4 down with 4 to play to eventually lose 3&1.
Nick Owen’s match was tight all the way with no golfer ever taking more than a 2 hole lead. Nick was 2 down with 3 to play and then 1 down with 2 to play and although behind, he was in control of the match by playing some excellent golf. Unfortunately 2 lip outs on the 17th & 18th meant he could not get back on equal terms.
