Some 150 Abingdon and St Helen’s sixth form students and their parents attended the annual Gap Year Advice Evening on Thursday, co-hosted for the second year with St Helen’s. The purpose of the event was to help students make an informed decision about whether or not to take a gap year and, for those who decide to take a gap year, to understand what is involved in successfully planning and managing the year. The main feature of the event was a panel presentation by leavers from Abingdon and St Helen’s who took a gap year. Thanks go to Old Abingdonians Harry Copson (2011) and Felix Newman (2012) for volunteering to serve on the panel alongside three Old St Helen’s girls, Ellie Fishleigh (2015), Mel Inkersole (2015), and Florence Crowe (2018).
