We are grateful to Oliver Glover in the Fourth Year for this recording of his beautiful oboe playing in Gabriel’s Oboe by the composer, Ennio Morricone. Many will recall that this is the main title theme from the 1986 film, The Mission, starring Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons.
Oliver submitted this audio recording to his teacher, Maddy Aldis-Evans, as his entry for a competition that she ran for her pupils last week. She says of Oliver’s entry “Really beautiful playing”.
Michael Stinton, Abingdon’s Director of Music, added, “Beautiful indeed – it makes me want to get my oboe out to play, too! Congratulations to Oliver!”
