Last week, a group of our enthusiastic and talented Lower Sixth French students visited Abingdon Prep to lead a lively session with Year 4 pupils, introducing them to a range of traditional French playground games.
After some fun icebreakers to get everyone warmed up, the pupils threw themselves into playing canard, canard, oie (duck, duck, goose), un-deux-trois-soleil (the French equivalent of granny’s footsteps), and l’épervier – a fast-paced, tactical game of tag that quickly became a firm favourite.
It was wonderful to see our Sixth Formers sharing their passion for French language and culture so confidently and joyfully with the younger children. The session was not only a fantastic collaborative effort between the two French departments, but also a brilliant example of language learning brought to life.
Bravo to all involved – and à l’année prochaine!
