Week 5 of the football season started with lower school triangular tournaments against Abingdon Prep School and Oratory Prep School. The U12 As continued their strong start to the season with a 1-1 draw with Abingdon Prep and a 4-1 win against Oratory Prep. The U12 Bs won both of their games 3-0 against Abingdon Prep and 8-0 against Oratory Prep. On their first ever outing for the school the U12 C team continued the U12s great afternoon of football with two 2-1 wins against both schools.

Moving to the U13s and both the A and the B teams won both of their fixtures the U13 A beating Abingdon Prep 2-0 before beating Oratory Prep 6-0 with the B team winning 1-0 and 3-0 against Abingdon Prep and Oratory Prep respectively.

Thursday was derby day, as the Football Club took on local neighbours Radley College. The U15s got the day underway with two goals from Jack Heath, and goals from Morgan Atkins and Jasper Rolls helping the side to a 4-1 win on Waste Court, whilst the Bs continued their positive football with a 13-1 win. Across at Radley the U16s found it tough against good opposition, the U16 As losing 0-1 and unfortunately two goals from Archie Turnbull weren’t enough to secure a win for the U16 Bs, 2-3 the final score. The U16 C team game finished 1-4, Luke Brownsord with the consolation goal for the Abingdon side. Still over at Radley College, despite taking an early 2-0 lead the Abingdon 4th XI had to settle for a 2-2 draw, whilst the 3rd XI lost 0-2. The second XI battled hard, however some clinical finishing from Radley saw them take the game 1-3, Barney Bussell with the Abingdon goal.

The evening saw the 1st XI game played under lights at Tilsley Park and, despite admittedly not their best performance of the campaign thus far,  the Abingdon side controlled the game well and where clinical infront of goal. A Sam Warren hat-trick as well as an Oise Emafo goal seeing the Abingdon side to a pleasing 4-0 victory.

This now brings the curtain down on the first half of the season with 87 games played to date, and the Football Club looks forward to continuing the campaign with fixtures against Wellingborough on Saturday 24 February.

Thank you for your continued support on the touchline.
