Towards the end of the summer break, 54 students across the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Lower Sixth year groups travelled to Iceland. From relaxing in the Secret Lagoon to walking through the mists of Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, the students experienced a wide range of what Iceland’s geography has to offer. Hiking on the Sólheimajökull Glacier was a highlight for many of the students, while others enjoyed the enormity of the Raufarholsheillir Lava Tunnels. The weather was glorious when visiting the island of Heimaey to ascend Eldfell Volcano and witness the stunning view of Iceland’s southern coast. However, nothing beats seeing a volcanic eruption with your own eyes. Students (and staff!) were incredibly excited when we were just a few kilometres away from the erupting Sundhnúksgígar volcano on the Reykjanes peninsula.
