On Saturday the Junior and Inter teams travelled to Lincroft School in Bedfordshire to compete in the regional round of the ESAA XC Cup.
The Intermediate team raced superbly to take the win ahead of John Hampden and Dr Challoner’s School and secured their place in the final of the ESAA Cross-country Cup. Will D’Arcy grabbed the race by the scruff of the neck and led the front pack for three quarters of the race. He was followed closely by Rowan Miell-Ingram, Johnny James and Henry Channon. Seb McAllan and Luis Vasconcelos dug deep to keep the whole team within the top 30 athletes, which is a fantastic achievement.
Intermediate individual results
Will D’Arcy: 3rd
Rowan Miell-Ingram: 5th
Johnny James: 11th
Henry Channon: 13th
Seb McAllan: 16th
Luis Vasconcelos: 25th
The final will take place at Woodbridge School, Suffolk on Saturday 24 November.
The junior race was fast paced from the start with the front runners showing no sign of slowing down. This strung the field out with no opportunities for runners to work together and race tactically. Unfortunately we weren’t quite strong enough to be one of the top three teams, and finished in a respectable 6th place.
Junior individual results
Alexander Darbishire: 12th
Thomas Mennie: 19th
Oliver Veal: 27th
Oliver Sherratt: 30th
Addison Hill: 38th
